We were treated to a very special and exclusive visit to the funerary complex of Pharoah Djoser (2630-2611 BC) of the 3rd Dynasty at Sakara. His Step Pyramid was the most pioneering and successful attempt ever to build a pyramid. The six unequal steps, like all the construction around it, were designed by Imhotep, the deified architect, physician, patron of scribes, and most honored by his people.
This pyramid, just outside Cairo is thought to be the first monumental stone structure in Egypt.
